This one is located in the Carina nebula and is know as he mystic mountain. These are composed mostly from gas bust also clear hydrogen gas. Dust pillars such as these are actually much thinner than air and only appear as mountains due to relatively small amounts of opaque interstellar dust. This picture is about 7500 light years away.

This picture is a composite of 29 telescopic images and it covers a wide range of exposure.  It was captured in Arctic Archipelago of Svalbard during the suns solar eclipse on March 20^th. On April 4^th there will be a total lunar eclipse.
